Simulacra are faces and figures that can be found in the bark of trees, the crack of stones, shadows on snow and stains on walls. In his book, Simulacra, John Michell tells us that seeing them is a "natural function of human consciousness", and that there is a "tendency in nature to manifest repeatedly certain shapes and patterns, including those of the human form, face and features."
